Game Day: vs Fresno // 6:00pm // Free Kids Candy Bag Giveaway (while supplies last)

The Oceanside Shock hope for two teams heading in opposite directions to reverse course as they host the Fresno Falcons on Halloween night at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside. The game is the second half of a home-road back-to-back weekend series with Fresno, scheduled for a 6:00pm PDT face-off. The action will be televised on the Oceanside Shock YouTube team channel, youtube.com/@OceansideShock.

The Shock (1-5-2, 4 points) are seeking to end a five-game losing streak which has put them at the bottom of the FPHL Frontier Division. Only the 0-5-1 Watertown Wolves of the Great Lakes Division currently have a worse record than the Shock through four weeks of competition.

The newly-created Frontier Division consists of four expansion teams (Oceanside, Fresno, Stockton Thunder and Minnesota Northern Lights) and the Topeka Scarecrows, who are in their second season of existence. The top three teams in the division at season’s end will make the playoffs. In its 17th season, the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) has 17 active franchises for the first time in league history. Despite their early struggles, the Shock remain just three points out of third place and a possible future playoff spot.

Oceanside has had their struggles with the Fresno Falcons, who improved to 5-1-0 (10 points) on the season and 3-0 against the Shock with a 6-2 win on Friday night at Selland Arena. Fresno has won two in a row and has handled the Shock to the tune of an 18-6 aggregate score over three contests. On Friday night, Fresno controlled the first period and led 2-0 despite the heroics of first-time Shock goaltender Logan Gorbitz, who made a number of dynamic saves among his 12 stops in the first period. Oceanside went 0-for-4 on the power play while conceding a pair of power play goals against. The Shock dropped to 0-3-0 on the road this season.

Saturday’s game kicks off a four-game homestand for the Shock in which they simply have to circle the wagons and start to pick up points against Frontier rivals Fresno and Stockton. At the conclusion of the homestand on November 18, the Shock will have played nine of their first twelve games at home. The club will then embark on a seven-game road trip that will last until a home return on December 8.
